Our Practice

In 1975, John J. McManus earned his Bachelor of Science degree. In 1977 he earned a Master of Business degree, followed in 1982 earning his Juris Doctor degree. He has been a Member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia since 1983.

John began his career with a focus on criminal defense and bankruptcy practice. He has handled misdemeanor and felony cases, including complex white collar crimes, and he has handled all types of bankruptcy cases, including lead counsel on a complex regional Chapter 11 case, representation regarding a complex Ponzi scheme case,  and counsel in 363 sales out of bankruptcy. He has also had extensive experience with residential and commercial real estate closings as well as business closings. He has also handled probate and estate matters, including handling complex multi-state probate and probate litigation.

John has been sought out and asked to handle escrow services for clients world-wide.

For over 15 years, John has been recognized as a Preeminent Lawyer, having been recognized with the highest *AV Preeminent® Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating™.

On February 2, 2002, John was ordained as a Catholic Deacon in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. In 2007, John earned his Juris Canonical Licentiate degree which allows him to practice law in Catholic Tribunals worldwide. In addition, John has served as a Collegiate Tribunal Judge in the Metropolitan Tribunal of Atlanta and handled both first instance and appeal work as a Judge therein.
